Thin walled horizontal cup or fan with low parallel ridges over surface, and sand heavily incorporated into the surface skeleton. Oscules tiny. Characterised microscopically by vermiform fibres forming columns

Behaviour

Sessile filter feeder with cyanobacterial symbionts.

Method of reproduction

Sexual with larvae.

Habitat

Marine

Found in shallow, tropical coastal waters.

Distribution

Recorded from the Great Barrier Reef, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, also now known from Pilbara and Kimberley.
