Stimson's python

Antaresia stimsoni

The pythons contain the world's largest snakes, including Australia's largest snake, the rock python, Morelia amethistina. All pythons are non-venomous, killing their prey through constriction, squeezing until it suffocates. Most pythons target large vertebrate prey, such as birds, mammals and reptiles.
 

Morphology

The stimson's python is typically light brown above, with irregular blotches creating a "banded" appearance. They can grow up to 1 m in length, typically 75 cm.

It is typically found in arid environments, in rocky outcrops and stone ridges. Away from these areas, it can be associated with water courses and larges termite mounds.
