Leopardfish
Bohadschia argus
Medium to large. Body firm but pliable. Tegument tough with scattered papillae.
Morphology
Body is grey-brown with distinctive dark eye spots surrounded by white haloes (leopard pattern). Mouth has a ring of paddle-shaped, white fringed, black tentacles. Spicules are branched rods.
Behaviour
Prefers subtidal sand and rubble habitats around coral reef environments. Secretes cuvierian tubules from the anus when disturbed as a defence mechanism.
