"Philips" photovoltaic panel. "BTX 47A \ 11404": S.E.R.I.W.A. Identification plate on back, Item No. 0225. Lent by SERIWA for 2nd circumnavigation of world by Jon Sanders during his double solo circumnavigation (6 Sep 81 to 31 Oct 82), the longest non- stop solo voyage to date. His vessel: 10m S&S 34 sloop "Peri Banou Halls Head". The 2 panels used on the voyage were used to power in a storm and this and one other were provided as replacements by SERIWA and were put aboard "Peri Banou" in the Derwent River, Tasmania. Correspondence, test result, "SOLA NEWS" in file. This panel was damaged in a storm and still has nylon lashing applied by Jon Sanders. Sanders had to break glass and re-connect wire to by-pass a damaged cell. Panel was provided to SERIWA by Dr Livingstone University of Western Australian.
