Model single, horizontal cylinder reciprocating steam engine. Plaque attached to model reads: "THIS MODEL WAS MADE BY \ C.J. MATHEWS, ESQ. M.I.C.E. \ CHIEF INSPECTOR OF MACHINERY IN W.A. 1899- 1926 \ WHEN A STUDENT AND WAS PRESENTED BY \ HIM TO THE STUDENTS OF THE ENGINEERING SCHOOL \ UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA \ OCTOBER 1926".
