A copper penny. The obverse features the first portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right and the lettering '+ ELIZABETH · II · DEI · GRATIA · REGINA · F D:'. The reverse features a Kangaroo leaping to the left with a federation star under it's head and the date under it's tail, with 'AUSTRALIA' at the top and 'PENNY' at the bottom. The coin has medal alignment.
