CRICKET HELMET, ‘ALBION’, Australia coat of arms, Justin Langer, 1993

Dark green, fabric covered, polypropylene(?) ‘Albion’ cricket helmet with visor and metal faceguard. Australian coat of arms with yellow kangaroo on left and yellow emu on right above a red banner marked 'AUSTRALIA' in yellow writing embroidered on front. ‘ALBION’ and ‘C&D’ inside shield with three white lines on either side stuck on back. Two semi-circular seams in green material running front to back on either side. Three ventilation holes in crown ringed with black plastic with 'ALBION C&D' embossed around the hole. Metal faceguard attached at ear, consisting of four horizontal, round, grey painted metal bars and four vertical bars extending across the face. Grey foam ear protection piece behind metal bars on each side. Rectangular, grey painted metal piece on helmet above each ear with two horizontal cut out sections on left and nine cut out round holes on right, each with round plastic covered screw marked ‘Albion’ for adjusting faceguard position. ‘Albion’ and ‘C&D’ in shield with ‘Test Cricket Faceguard 9/98’ printed in white on rectangular black sticker attached to metal piece above left ear. Black webbed synthetic fabric chin strap attached inside at each ear. Black plastic buckle attached to chin strap. 55mm long piece of tan strapping tape wrapped around centre of chin strap. Firm grey foam(?) padding across inside surface of helmet. White sticker underneath foam marked ‘READ BEFORE USE’ in black with remainder obscured. Rectangular, disintegrating, black foam piece attached inside at forehead.
