H2005.231
Competitor's badge, British Empire & Commonwealth Games, Perth, 1962. Copper alloy (possibly brass?) badge with a light blue coloured ribbon with a forked end attached 'COMPETITOR' printed on the ribbon in black ink. The badge is brass coloured with a royal blue enamelling around the border with text that reads '∙ BRITISH EMPIRE & COMMONWEALTH GAMES ∙ PERTH ∙ WESTERN AUSTRALIA ∙ 1962'. The centre of the badge depicts a crown surrounded by a linked chain with the lettering 'BE & CG' under the crown but above the chain. There is some red enamelling where the velvet of the crown would be located. Brooch pin attached to the back of the badge and the ribbon attaches to itself over a bar located under the brooch pin which appears to have been soldered with a silver coloured solder. There is a maker’s mark on the back of the badge under the ribbon bar which reads: 'K.O LUXE / MELB.'.
