RELIEF, The Mocking of Christ

plaster cast with hemp reinforcement, painted, bas relief of 'The Mocking of Christ', with wire handing attachment at rear. Plaster has shellac layer with bronze coloured finish (floor polish? see Kohler collection notes for this item No. P3) Figure of man draping a cloth over Christ's shoulders. A reed, representation a sceptre, rests on Christ's shoulder across his body. Christ depicted bound, with crown of thorns, but in a state of serenity.
