BOX, CHRISTY'S OLD ENGLISH LAVENDER CASKET

Oblong cardboard box with hinged lid, papered in mottled brown intended to resemble wood. Cover features an additional paper circle glued to centre with a pale yellow background, gold border and stylised coats of arms, and a small coloured illustration of a man looking at a woman, with both dressed in 18th century style clothes. An inscription beneath reads 'CHRISTY'S/ Old English/ LAVENDER/ CASKET'. Inside, the box is divided into 3 sections, the outer two of equal, square dimensions. Interior is lined with gold paper.
The box may have contained powder, perfume or soap, or a combination of these.
The box was previously numbered CH76.345b.
