COFFEE GRINDER

Cast iron hollow base with loops on left and right side for clamping/ nailing onto a surface to keep steady. Small drawer at the front from which coffee grounds were retrieved; drawer lined in paper now yellowed and decayed at centre. Manufacturer's plate (copper,oval shape) at the front reads: 'A. KENDRICK & SONS'. Above a crest held by a lion on the left and unicorn on the right; print on scroll at bottom is illegible. Below reads 'PATENT COFFEE MILL'.
Classical shaped bowl - receptacle for coffee beans with heart shaped design around the base (copper). Handle is an elongated 'S' shape (cast iron) with large wooden knob. Hole in base below drawer. Works consist of handle attached to rod which goes through shaft at the centre of the bowl; rod joins to grinder with small gap between it and the shaft where coffee beans are ground and fall into the drawer at the bottom.
