a. Brass government padlock, has 4 keys with brass tag marked "MEDIUM / 516". The lock is marked "JACKSONS / MAKERS / LAUNCESTON / COMMONWEALTH / OF AUSTRALIA" b. Circular lock, with 2 keys and a brass tag marked "SMALL / 933" Lock is marked "YALE / JUNIOR" on front and "MADE BY / YALE & TOWNE MFG. CO. / IN ENGLAND" on reverse. c. Square lock, 4 keys, 2 brass tags, one marked "COMMONWEALTH / ELECTORAL OFFICE / W.A. / 263" and the other marked "263" Lock marked "NATIONAL / NU-LOCK / 208 / 88" on one side and "EMPIRE DIE & TOOL / WORKS PTY LTD / SYDNEY AUSTRALIA" on the front. d. Black steel lock has 3 keys with brass tag marked "COMMONWEALTH / ELECTORAL OFFICER / W.A. / 954". Lock is marked "1028 / GERMAN MADE Locks were used to lock full ballot boxes at polling stations before transfer to counting offices. The number on the tag corresponds to the number of the ballot box allocated to a particular polling station.
