BOWL, silver

CH1984.337

Silver bowl after the style of a 17th century porringer. Period: William IV. Manufactured: London, 1833. Maker: J.H. 2 handles with leaf style and buds, with fluted lower. From Jackson's Book, presumed to be James Hobbs, 1833. Bowl embellished with Acanthus leaves and with cast base. Inner bowl gilt surface. Stamped under base. Marks (5) and '283'. State of marks and condition of bowl perfect. Inscription: 'To the Rev. Robert Tozer. As a tribute of respect for the faithful and affectionate manner in which he has discharged his duties during the past 12 years. Malborough, August 11th, 1834.'
