SHAWL
CH1980.305
Printed woollen shawl. Cream background and would originally have had a larger plain central section. Pattern of large stylized cones with floral motifs. Predominantly pink, aqua, blue and yellow. Probably originally a three-quarter plaid shape. Copy of the woven "paisley shawl". Ref. Irwin, 'Shawls', 1955, pp.30-35. Possibly made in imitation of Paisley designs incorporating floral motifs. Fairly late Kashmir pattern.
