Square shawl in fine, open weave. Cream ground with alternate horizontal silk stripes in cream and mauve/lavender?, crossed by wider vertical stripes in cream in groups of 3. Wide edging of mauve, with narrow cream stripes. Hand-hemmed edge. Fabric colour and size suggests date in 1840's.
