Athena (1868-1912) The Athena was a wooden 3 masted sailing barque built by the Middle Dock Company, South Shields, Newcastle on Tyne in 1868 for the Black Diamond Line. It was registered to Australian owners in 1872, and was later converted to a coal hulk in 1896 for McIlwraith and McEarchern.
