Barbara Merritt
Barbara grew up in the Mullewa region in the 1950’s. Surrounded by family as one of ten children, she went on to raise seven of her own before becoming active in the Yamaji artistic community. Her ‘Seven Sisters’ neckpiece bursts forth from a palette inspired by astronomy and traditional stories passed down by her elders. Bright colours layer with copper undertones to create an extravagant piece she hopes will inspire positivity in her community.
