HERPETOFAUNA OF THE LAKE MACLEOD REGION, WESTERN AUSTRALIAWA Museum Records and Supplements | Updated 1 decade agoAbstract The herpetofauna consists of 14 families, 46 genera and 104 species of frogs, turtles, lizards and snakes. Brief notes are given on their local distribution, relative abundance and habitat preferences. Triodia-dominated habitats are important in the north, where many reptiles are shared with the neighbouring Exmouth region. In the south Acacia-dominated habitats prevail; several elements of the Shark Bay region have their northern limits here. South-west Australian species are largely restricted to the coastal strip, which is notable for its winter showers and relatively cool summers. Author(s) STORR, G.M.
