Light weight pressed metal ordinary gas meter (i.e. not slot). Recently re-painted silver. Impressed on plaque on front: 'PARKINSON AND COWEN/ (AUSTRALIA)/ LIMITED/ SYDNEY/ MELBOURNE/ 140177/ BRISBANE/ 1946/ WELLINGTON N.Z.' Parkinson opened an office and began manufacturing gas meters in Perth in 1929 (P.O. Directory). Used by the fremantle Gas & Coke Company.
