a) Head rod (a form of slide rule).
b) Long calipers - for measuring outside length of cask.
c) Cross calipers - for measuring diameter of cask.
d) Dip stick or bung rod - for measuring the bung & depth of contents.
a) Using measurements obtained with b),c),d), the 'full' of the cask and quantity of liquifd ('ullage') can be calculated.
