TABLECLOTH, Japanese

H1989.971

Cream coloured cloth with green crocheted edging. It has a design of two peacocks crocheted and sewn on. They are facing in opposite directions and with their long tails take up most of the cloth. The body of each bird had additionally been covered in beads and sequins. Beads have also been sewn on the tail of the peacock. The tablecloth together with a number of other articles were presented to the Western Australian Government following the Sister State agreement in 1981. They came from the Hyogo Exhibition in Japan. They were displayed in the Beaufort St Gallery for a number of years.
