CARVED BOOMERANGS, Wood Samples, -67-

-67- hand carved boomerangs, samples of various woods collected around the state. Made by Mr Richard Peter Pillow between the 1920s and 1970s. He was an electrical engineer and lectured at Perth Technical College and later at WAIT. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand, 21 June 1915, and died in Perth 24 March 1982. His father was Maltese and his mother Scottish. He built the family home in Como, WA over three years from 1947. The boomerangs are numbered -1- to -68- (-15- is missing) and there is a two-sheet key listing numbers, botanical names, common names and locality where the wood was collected.
