black and white studio portrait of George Clifton standing, to his right is an ornate silver cup with a swan on top of lid. Front 'Alec (?) Birnie (?)/EAST PUTNEY S.W.' and hand written in blue ink over the studio's name is 'George Clifton J.P. R.N. HMCS' on the back is handwritten Arthur B. Clifton/with my love and/best wishes/George Clifton/Taken on my 80th Birthday/I am now n my 90th Yr.' HMCS refers to his time serving in her Majesty's Convict Service as a Governor of Portland and Dartmoor Prisons.
