Framed, sepia photograph of Ethel Clifton Hassell, grey hair pulled back, looking sombre, dressed in a long black dress with long sleeves and a wide band around her waist and the cuffs of the dress. A long, string of beads hangs round her neck and she is carrying a small, decorative, hanging bag in her left hand. The photograph is taken inside with a chair on the left hand side. A grey/cream mount surrounds it. The wooden frame is narrow, muted, and decorative. The rear has a cardboard backing and a stand which is hinged with staples.
