TOY, cat, automata, black fur
H2008.240
Small, black, fur covered with glass/plastic eyes and hard body mould (plastic? Wood?), automata cat toy. Cat in upright sitting position, with face turned to left, ears pointed, mouth slightly open, and tail straight out behind body. Winding pin for clockwork mechanism pokes through fur on cat’s side, no other mechanism visible. Cat’s front legs made of wood, worn through fur at bottom of paws. Fur becoming threadbare over body, especially tail, face and changes in shape of body mould. Two glass eyes, yellow with vertical black slit through middle. Nose and ear points worn. Head slightly moveable (part of clockwork mechanism?) Loose threads over body, very worn.
