Of red silk and blue satin, the banner features four large Chinese characters embroidered with gold thread spread across its length, which translates as 'Model Educationalist of All Ages'. At both ends the likeness of Confucius is depicted. It has been heavily embroidered with other motifs depicting various animals and Chinese symbolic items. The border also holds many small brass-held mirrors and is finished with a fringe. Behind the banner is a white cloth lining on which is a Chinese brush painting. It is an anonymous work and is derived from the 'Annals of the Three Kingdoms'. It is in traditional folk style.
