MALLET, Round Head

H1988.35

Wood mallet with cylindrical head with rounded ends. Has multiple uses. Belonged to Captain Albert Edward Gilmore who came to Australia in 1877 as a result of the wreck of the HADDA. Gilmore was the recipient of a gold medal, certificate and letter from the Mayor and townspeople of Geraldton for bravery shown in rescue work at the wreck of the WINDSOR (1908). He was Harbour Master at the time.
