SIGN, For Hire
H1991.190
Metal framed glass sign with "FOR HIRE2 painted on inside of glass. This is illuminated with an electric light. The frame of the sign has a spring loaded arm at the rear which is the means of fixing the sign to the driver's side of the taxi. It is fitted inside the cab close to the sun visor. The purpose of the spring catch is to allow the cabbie to turn the sign down out of view from the public when he is engaged. The sign is turned back into view when the cab is again empty. This sign augments the TAXI sign on the roof of the vehicle. For day or night use.
