Inscribed: "Frederick Henry Stirling RN / From the Officers / 2nd Battalion the Buffs / In remembrance of / Two Pleasant Voyages / In 1864 and 1866 / In H.M.S. Tamar". Engraved with the Stirling family crest, leaft-capped scroll handles and domed cover. Cover surmounted by sailor carrying soldier. Hallmarks : FB (obscured) / lion / X / crown / head of young Victoria.
