Diary of a journey to Europe in 1900 to 1901 when J.V. Banfield bought a Gladiator vehicle (photo in supp. file). Written in diary advertising Dawson's Whisky. "Dawson's \ Diary \ 1898". Starts Fremantle on "KARRAKATTA" 11 April 1900 and ends in Fremantle December 1901. Signed Rhoda E. Banfield (Married to J.V. Banfield). See also T394 - Photo of Gladiator. Refs: see notes in Suppl File. The `gladiator' was probably first car imported into W.A. & J.V. Banfield appears to have been the first licensed driver in W.A.
