CABINET, jarrah, carved
H2012.130
Carved jarrah cabinet with carved pediment, three upper shelves, cupboard section with intricately carved doors and sides, one lower shelf. Pedestal carved with wings and central demon head, '1907' carved into demon's tongue. Two of the upper shelves have spindle backs. Inside cupboard divided vertically into eight compartments with wooden curved edge dividers. Letters 'G' to 'N' on single paper labels adhered to front shelf in each section. Doors intricately carved with dragons and leaves and sides of cupboard carved with pheonix? and nuts/acorns?. Front section of each of the four shelves has a different carved floral pattern. 'E Strickland' carved onto upper back of cabinet (and inside doors? check), and 'WH' initials carved inside doors? (check). Remains of paper exhibition label covered with perspex on upper back of cabinet above 'E. Strickland'. '2644' marked in white chalk on underside of cupboard section and on right hand side of inside shelf of cupboard.
