EPNS serving knife and fork with bone handle in box.
[.1] Rectangular wooden box covered in a thin layer of textured black paper with a gold coloured inlay around top of lid. Has 2 hinges at the back, and a small round metal press button at front connected to a latch inside. Lid is deeper than base. Paper covering is well worn around edges, corners, and on bottom, with the wooden box structure visible. Inside of bottom is hard, covered in dark navy blue velvet like material, with indentations for the fork and knife to rest. Dark blue twisted cord material is attached around the edge. Inside of lid is slightly padded and covered with a satin like navy blue material, lighter in colour than the material on the bottom. Stamped on inside of lid in gold: 'CARIS BROTHERS/PERTH & KALGOORLIE/MADE IN ENGLAND'.
[.2] EPNS serving knife with bone handle. Blade has a pointed end and curved top and bottom edges. One side of the blade is engraved with a scroll and leaf pattern. Sections of the blade have been cut out in the same scroll and leaf pattern around a diamond shaped section of metal in the middle. The section of metal joining to the bone handle is decorated with a raised pattern of lines and circles. Hallmark engraved side of blade: 'J D & S (trumpet with banner)'. Old National Trust number '84/24' marked on back of handle in black texta.
[.3] Large EPNS serving fork with bone handle and 5 tines. Each tines has a pointed end. The metal surface below the tines is decoratively engraved with a scroll and leaf pattern and has small cut out sections around a diamond, similar to [.2]. The metal section joining the bone handle has a decorative pattern of raised lines around the circumference. Hallmark on back of shaft: 'J D & S (trumpet with banner)'. Old National Trust number '84/24' marked on back of handle in black texta.
