MEDAL Bicentenary on stand
H1991.60
Medal mounted on rectangular block of wood. Obverse: "BICENTENARY / (head) / PHILIP / GIDLEY / KING / 1788 - 1988". Reverse: "SETTLEMENT of NORFOLK ISLAND on 6th MARCH 1788" around scene of ship (HMS SUPPLY) and six persons landing on the shore with goods. Rectangular plaque on block: "PRESENTED / ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE / OF NORFOLK ISLAND IN 1988". This was presented to WA Museum staff in recognition of work done on the "Sirius" expedition.
