COOLGARDIE DIGGER BROOCH
H1989.348
Pick and shovel crossed, with small nugget at junction, and "COOLGARDIE" in arched lettering. Has "29.3.94" and maker's marks on back of spade. Made by Larard Bros, has crown mark next to maker's mark, which appears on back of pick handle. Larard Bros operated in Melbourne until 1895. Although there is no record of this company operating in W.A., there were two Larards recorded in Mt. Magnet in 1899 - 1900. Information on jewellers and brooch's condition supplied by D. Erickson
