REPRODUCTION MINER'S LAMP

Reproduction brass miner's lamp has heavy circular base with adhesive sticker attached: 'SUPPLIED BY:/ MANNERS/ W.G. MANNERS & CO./ 45 BROOKMAN ST. KALGOORLIE/ WESTERN AUSTRALIA./ PH (090) 21 2700 FAX: (090)91 2832'. Under base is a brass cross which can be turned to raise and lower cotton wick . The glass chimney is protected by five brass bars around it. The chimney is marked '58.25 M&Q 59.5'. A circular brass plaque is attached to the top of the lamp surrounding the mantle: 'THE PROTECTOR LAMP & LIGHTING CO. LTD ECCLES/ TYPE/ GR6S/ M & Q/ SAFETY LAMPS/ APPROVAL No. B2/ 233/ MAKERS'. The top of the lamp has a large brass hook attached. Base also marked "PAT. NO 1048136'. A steel pin on one side can be pulled out to cause friction sufficient to spark and light the lamp. On base is also a catch which can be turned outwards to reveal gas inlet.
