Ovioform, incised with leaves on a green and brown salt glazed ground. Impressed on base (in circle) 'DOULTON LAMBETH' as Godden, Encyclopaedia, numb 1343 page 214 & D. Eyles, Royal Doulton 1815-1965, pages 63-7. Christie's 16 Aug. 1979 catalogue, lot number 246. This is an example of the style of decoration known as 'Natural Foliage Ware' or 'Repousse Ware' in which real leaves were pressed into the soft clay leaving an impression of even the smallest veins. Ref.D. Eyles (1965:77).
