TABLE, J.W.R. Linton

CH1973.173

Octagonal, stained green/ blue. Gilt ram's head on top of each leg. 'J. CHITTLEBOROUGH' carved underneath.

This is typical of Rectilinear Art Nouveau moving into Art Deco and Modern Style. Ram's heads were used by French Art Deco furniture makers. The use of colour by the Bloomsbury Group may be a factor too. Reference Haslam 'In the Nouveau Style' in J.W.R. Linton file in 'Metalwork Made in WA'.
