How to dry your socks and shoes in less than 4 hours

It's been raining over the past two days. The water turns the red clay into thick mud, and as you walk, the mud attaches to the soles of your feet and soon enough you're walking around with a pair of slippery mud bricks under your feet. It can get pretty heavy!

Last night, everyone was huddled around the fire drying out their wrinked feet, saturated socks and wet shoes. Gavin's post today has a good photo of what this involves. I was hoping that it was steam rising from my gear and not smoke! I did melt the soles of my shoes a bit, not so bad as Grant's (he's been walking around in a pair of sneakers lately). Toasty warm shoes are a real treat!

Some of you may be wondering where we go to the loo out here. I can show you exactly where it is:

… right over there. It's a good 2-3 minute walk I reckon.
