Family
The family Pseudotyrannochthoniidae are a distinct group of chthonioid pseudoscorpions found in many disparate regions of the world, including Asia, western North America, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Australia and Chile. They were included amongst the Chthoniidae until elevated to family level by Judson (1992, 1993c). Currently there are five genera and over 40 species recognized, with the largest genus Pseudotyrannochthonius containing nearly half of the species.
