Cretaceous (Albian-Turonian): Hexanchid SharksResearch Projects | Updated 3 months ago Hexanchid Sharks As part of a larger project describing all mid-Cretaceous elasmobranch species in the lower Murchison River area, Dr Siversson and colleagues at the WA Museum are currently finishing up the description of the hexanchids sharks (six- and seven-gills sharks). The fossil material, comprising numerous shed teeth, was extracted from nearly one tonne of processed sediment of the Gearle Siltstone and Haycock Marl. Several undescribed species have been identified.
