PREMIER'S DESK
CH1970.617.a-m
Made of Wester Australian timbers. The jarrah top is inlaid with yellow tingle? medallions on which are painted the busts of the first State Premiers from John Forrest in 1890 to Scaddan. The medallions are bordered by stylised WA flora - wattle, kangaroo paw and banksia. The sides of the pedestal are jarrah with banksia? inserts. The drawer fronts are fiddleback (curly) jarrah and the inside of the drawers is banksia. The black border on top of the desk and around the medallions is ebony and the light coloured outside border is sandalwood. The light border on the pedestal is possibly blackbutt. (Timber identified by Frank Richmond - Antique Dealer).
