Underglaze light blue printed design. On cover: Scene of Nylghau and Wapiti (2 species of deer) in a landscape. Repeated on outside of tureen. Inside romanticised grouping of 2 kangaroos in landscape. Landscape identical for both groups of animals - imaginative only. i.e. Not specifically Australian or identifiable. Kangroos repeated on stand. Marks printed in underglaze blue, inside lid: 'MAMMALIA/ (ornate crest)/ E.J./ NYL-GHAU & WAPITI'. Stand, as above but with '...E.J/ KANGUROO'[sic]. Potter Elijah Jones but other works which may have used same mark in existence 1828-48.
