1853 Pattern Long Enfield rifled musket, .577 calibre; converted to breech loading snider action. Charge/projectile: snider cartridge. Sights: fore - ribbed block, rear - bridge graduated to 950 yards. Manufacturer: 'B.S.A. Co' - 'Snider Patent' on breech lock. Proof: Three Birmingham view marks on barrel (crown, number, B); one Birmingham view mark on LHS breech block; 2nd Proof mark on RHS of barrel and breech block (crown/VR/crossed flags). LHS Arrow/WD - breech block and barrel.
On stock: Roundel (Enfield Pattern Room) '6' over '1869'. Class of Arm: regular troops. (refer to hand drawn diagram on original data sheet)

Two stars and II on fore breech.
Furniture: brass butt plate, nose-cap, side cups and trigger plate with steel sling-swivel. 3 bands. The fore-band is a Baddeley and the others solid screw type. W.A.E.F. 92 on butt plate. Museum no: stamped inside butt plate and on end of stock.
