2 Miners Lamps.
[.a] On metal "DIETZ COMET MADE IN?" On glass: "DIETZ \ COMET" & "MADE IN UNITED STATES \ OF AMERICA." On top "DIETZ" repeated. Kerosene lamp.
[.b] Miner's lamp with reflecting plate on front. Owl surrounded by "CRESTELLA" & on outside "THE PREMIER LAMP \ & ENGINEERING CO LTD LEEDS/ MADE IN ENGLAND'. There are two identical registration numbers applied to the back of the reflector plate – one on white paint across the middle of the reflector paint and a newer one at the edge.

Conservation despription of [.b]: Ferrous and copper alloy cylindrical lamp with rubber seal around removable base. A thin, circular ferrous alloy reflector plate sits on the front of the lamp and has been tied down with a piece of twisted copper wire. Tap, crew lid to water chamber and burner tip are composed of copper alloy. There is a ferrous metal hook at the top of the lamp used for hanging purposes. When the top water reservoir is removed, there is a small curved plate at the base of the carbide chamber, presumably to hold the calcium carbide pellets.
