PHOTOGRAPH, Framed
H1992.311
Photograph taken in 1932 of the interior of the Mills & Ware factory in South Fremantle. Depicts female staff wrapping biscuits by hand in the packing department. The photograph is interesting as a comparison of the work practices, fashion, hairstyles etc of the day and the intensive nature of the work which was later performed by one operator and a modern machine. Caption reads: 'GIRLS HAND WRAPPING IN THE / PACKING DEPARTMENT (1932)' For history of factory see H92/0149.
