BOTTLE, Ginger Beer
H2001.81
Stoneware ginger beer bottle. The maker's mark 'MASHMAN/CHATSWOOD' is impressed close to the base of the bottle. Mashman potters manufactured ginger beer bottles and small domestic wares in New South Wales from 1885, and used this mark between 1900-1920.
The bottle was made for George Saurmann who brewed ginger beer at 16 Ellen Street, Fremantle between 1903-1906. The mark on the bottle is enclosed in a circle: 'GEO.SAURMANN/ELLEN STREET/FREMANTLE WA'. Salt glazed.
