(.1) Large wooden cutlery case, painted brown with 2 metal latches on lid. Inside of lid and base covered in purple felt. Central panel of lid (inside) covered in cream satin and has compartments for 16 bone-handled metal bladed knives; 8 butter knives and 8 dinner knives (parts 2-17). At back of inside base are 2 purple felt blocks, each with four grooves in it, to hold 4 small teaspoons each. At front of inside base is inverted 'V' shaped felt block, with grooves cut in it to hold remainder of cutlery; all metal, silver plated. (This includes 7 large teaspoons, 8 soupspoons, 7 dessert spoons, 7 entree forks, 6 dinner forks, 2 tablespoons; parts 18-62). There are also 2 loose pieces that are not part of set, but came with box, (.63)small butter knife & (.64) mustard spoon.
(.1) The cutlery case has a small white ribbon attached diagonally across a corner of the inside of the lid, which has 'Grosvenor Plate' printed across in gold.
(.2-.17) Each of the knives has 'GROSVENOR'/ FIRTH-BREARLEY/ STAINLESS' engraved on the blade.
(.18-.62) All other pieces of cutlery in the set have 'Grosvenor Plate E.P.N.S. A1' engraved on the back of the handle.
(.63) Small butter or pate knife, stainless steel, unmarked.
(.64) Small mustard spoon. It has 5 hallmarks on the back of the handle which have worn away considerably and are difficult to see, the last one in the line particularly is almost completely erased. Two that are distinguishable are 'S' and 'E'.
