WOODEN HAT MOULD & STAND

H1995.1362.1-2

Solid wooden hat mould (.1), with rounded top and flat oval shaped base. Size 22. Surface of mould covered with pin holes and pencil marks from usage. Front and back of mould indicated by 'F' and 'B' printed in pencil on mould. Size '22' carved into front of mould. On base of mould, 'Gilbert/ PERTH' is engraved in small capitals. Back and front indicated by pencilling. Three separate tubular grooves (approx 5cm deep) bred along diameter of base to allow positioning on the stand (.2).
The stand consists of a solid wooden block. Embedded in the centre of top of stand is a solid iron rod.
