EDWARD WORCESTER SHAW was engineer on paddle steamer "Pearl" in South Australia. Became miner and inventor in Kalgoorlie. (See photocopy of "Kalgoorlie Miner" article, n.d. on file). Invented coding radiator & safety lights for own car (see photos) and Shaw Valve (mining use) inter alia. See page 200 Australia' Fighting Sons of the Empire (Palmer & Ashworth, Perth, n.d.) Copy donated to WAM Library by the Hahns. Edward Worcester Shaw was the grandfather of Mr. A.R. Hahn.
