a, b. Medals awarded by Cue Convent School to Mary Troy. a. Obverse is a disc on a plate which has four ornately etched projections and a ring at the top containing a chain link. The reverse is engraved "CONVENT SCHOOL / CUE / 1907 / MARY TROY / FOR CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE". Beneath, "9 CT" and "W. HOPPE", on the latter the "W" and "H" run together. The disc is copper coloured, the plate gold. b. Obverse has copper coloured plate on which is etched a weather- board house with a verandah (part of the convent) and a tower supporting a cross. The gold plate behind is heavily etched and shaped. There is a ring at the top. The reverse is engraved "CUE / CONVENT SCHOOL / DUX / MARY TROY / 1910". Beneath, "9 CT" and "W. HOPPE" with the "W" and "H" run together. The well-known and accomplished goldsmith, Hoppe, is also remembered as the perpetrator of the "Daydawn Provisionals", a famous postal forgery represented in the philatelic collection.
c. Red coloured, suede-type material bag with white coarse weave on the reverse and slits at the top for gold draw-string, used to store the medals. Probably provided by dealer. CONFIDENTIAL Purchase price : $750
